Juliet is our Aggression Specialist. She focuses on dogs with severe aggression or that have been failed by other training programs. An avid problem solver and creative thinker, she loves working with a dog that doesn’t fit into the dog training norms and requires a unique approach to resolve complex behavior problems.
In her free time, Juliet Ortiz trains personal protection dogs and competes in “bite sports”. She uniquely earned a Schutzhund certification with a Bully breed dog, and is currently training for the American Patrol and Protection Dog Association.

Juliet’s favorite part of being a dog trainer is the joy she gets from seeing how her clients apply lessons they learned through dog training to their personal lives, goals, and (human) relationships.

Juliet Ortiz has gotten certified as a CPDT (Certified Professional Dog Trainer) and mentored under several highly respected names in the industry. She was a student of Ted Efthymiadis, owner of Mango Dogs in Canada, and Duke Ferguson, owner of Unleashed Potential K9 Academy Certified Professional Dog Trainer School in Canada. She is also a titled Trainer/Handler in Schutzhund protection dog training!

- Severe aggression —> Juliet Ortiz worked exclusively with severe cases of human aggression and dog aggression for a decade before joining the Traction team. As a result, she commonly works with “last strike” dogs that have been court ordered to work with a trainer as a danger to the public.
- Intense reactivity —> Many dogs appear to be aggressive, but are actually just intensely reactive. Thankfully, Juliet excels in teaching these dogs to practice neutrality to triggering stimuli. They are taught the proper way to act at home and in public, brining peace back to their owners’ lives and to themselves!
- Teaching future trainers —> Juliet offers her own dog training mentorship program for future and current professional dog trainers. She is highly skilled in breaking down and explaining the complex concepts of behavior modification training, making her mentorship invaluable for those seeking to master advanced training techniques.
- Advanced obedience —> Not only does Juliet Ortiz teach advanced on and off leash control to each dog in training, she also trains uncommon breeds such as XL Bullies to a competition level of obedience. This is a rare feat even for other competitive obedience handlers, showcasing her unparalleled expertise.
- Off leash control —> The transformations of Juliet’s client dogs are extra impressive because of their off leash performances. They are often uncontrollable even while leashed at the beginning of training, and are easily and calmly able to be off leash in public by the end of their training program. She is consistently able to train high drive, intense dogs to ignore previously triggering stimuli on and off leash.
