Which program is right for my dog?

Tutoring works well when you want to practice daily: your trainer teaches your dog a skill first, then coaches you to continue it. Homeschool gives your dog four trainer-led sessions and you one coaching session each week, in your own home. Study Abroad lets your dog live and train with a professional every day, followed by coaching to bring those skills home. Homeschool and Study Abroad can address many of the same goals. Study Abroad is better for off-leash training and can be better for reactivity. For most other goals, the training format and your household’s needs matter more than the specific behavior.

Are the goals the same for every dog?

No. Written goal sheets set out the priorities for your individual dog before a program begins. We focus on the behaviors and skills you will actually use, rather than treating every household as the same assignment.

Do you offer in-home training in Denver?

No. Colorado in-home training is offered in Boulder. Denver offers board and train through Study Abroad, with your dog staying in a trainer’s home.

Can I try training before choosing a full program?

Yes. The $170 introductory session can be rolled into a training program. A free phone consultation is also available if you want to talk through your options first.

What if I live outside the in-home service area?

Confirm your address and trainer availability during your consultation. Eligible travel outside the service area is listed at $1.50 per minute outside the boundary. This does not extend in-home training to Denver.

Is boarding included in Study Abroad?

Your dog’s stay in the trainer’s home is part of the Study Abroad program. The separate $89-per-day boarding service maintains existing routines while you travel; it is not the same as enrolling in board and train.
