We will be outdoors in a shaded area.
Training Cost: Anyone is welcome to “audit”, or come and watch for free. If you’d like to work a dog, the following fees apply:

- $150 per day of training (2 sessions)
- $298 for both days (4 sessions)
Owner Participation: Owners may opt to drop their dog off at 9am and pick up around 5pm, or may stay and watch/participate in training! For dogs being dropped off for both days of training, an overnight stay can be booked on site at Traction K9 Kennels.
What to Bring:
- A wide flat collar and/or a harness that is comfortable for your dog to pull into
- A basic leash (not bungee, retractable, etc.)
- Any training equipment your dog uses, like their prong collar or ecollar
- Plan to keep your dog in your vehicle, crated indoors (let us know in advance), or in a suite at Traction K9 Kennels when it is not their turn for training.
- A water bowl for dog
- Snacks for yourself. We’ll place a group Chipotle order you can join if you’d like, or bring your own lunch.
- A lawn chair for yourself to sit in
Safety Notes
- Do NOT let your dog off leash while on property at any time
- Do NOT let your dog approach people or dogs on property at any time, friendly or not. When it is your dog’s turn, be careful to keep them at least 6 feet away from others at all times.
- Do NOT approach other people’s dogs at any point, friendly or not
- If you are keeping your dog in your vehicle, ensure your windows are not low enough for your dog to jump out through
- The weather may be warm. Please let us know in advance if you’ll need to place your dog’s crate indoors in A/C during training. Otherwise, you can keep your car running, reserve a suite at Traction K9 Kennels, or use a crate and fan in a truck bed or on the outside of your vehicle.
What to Expect (For Noobs)
- Know your goals going in. Do you want to train your dog for personal protection scenarios, a sport, or are you just having fun? This is important for you and for us to know before we begin training. If you’re unsure, tell us that! We’ll walk you through the differences in the training process and implications so you can make an informed decision.
- Protection training is vastly different from obedience training. Training sessions are very short, typically 5-10 minutes long. This is so that your dog enters training sessions with ever-increasing energy and enthusiasm.
- Protection training depends heavily on your dog’s genetics. If it’s your first time, we’ll begin with an evaluation to determine your dog’s natural aptitudes for training. You can then opt to continue with more sessions if it’s determined that your dog will enjoy the training.
- You are welcome to bring family members with you!
