TRAINING SPECIALTY

As our in-home trainer, Rachel loves using her scientific and theoretical training to teach people how to understand their dog’s individual learning process. A good dog trainer can train a dog… a great dog can train a person to train a dog!

Rachel is especially passionate about uncovering a dog’s breed-specific behaviors and helping families understand how their dog’s breed tendencies are showing up in everyday life. Once a dog’s instincts are in sync with a family’s routine, everything changes!

FUN FACT

Rachel is learning to become a bite work decoy (the guy in the suit who gets bit by K9s!)

OTHER AREAS OF EXPERTISE

  • Analyzing Mixed Breed Behaviors —> Rachel is uniquely passionate about understanding a dog’s genetic makeup, and what that means for their instincts, predispositions, and learning style. As someone who got her start with troubled shelter dogs, Rachel loves helping uncover the genetic cocktails of mixed breed dogs. Understanding your dog’s history and purpose-bred behaviors goes a long way in helping you learn who they are as an individual.
  • Puppy Training —> Rachel is an expert in preparing owners for bringing their new puppy home! She has spent dozens of hours studying litters of working puppies. This helped her gain an understanding of how to mold early habits and behaviors.
  • Temperament Testing —> While studying litters of working dogs, temperament testing naturally became a strong suit of Rachel’s. If you have a new dog or are selecting a new puppy, Rachel is the go-to for identifying puppies’ strong suits, potential challenges, and how those might mold and change with maturity.
  • Introductions to Dog Sports —> Rachel is passionate about finding ways for dogs to express their natural drives and instincts… which means dog sports! If you’re interested in agility, tracking, scent work, bite sports, or other dog sports, Rachel will be thrilled to help you and your dog find the sport you both love.
  • Obedience Training —> Given her other areas of expertise, Rachel has naturally become a master of helping any dog master basic obedience skills. Skills like recall, place, and heel are essential staple skills to have, no matter the breed, lifestyle, or sport.
